Hotel Hotel’s Nishi Gallery is a space dedicated to the presentation of exhibitions that explore our curiosities on local identity, objects and their meaning, the natural world, design experimentation and artisanal making.
With an elegant edge, this day through night exhibition and private event space has a fluid inside to outdoor design.
We are looking for cohesive bodies of works that look at the human experience, whatever that means to you. Local, national or international art is welcome. A successful application will succinctly discuss exactly what it is that you intend to do in the space.
We are here to help but you’ll need to get busy. It’s your job to be a self-promoting machine, to follow up on sales opportunities and network your way to a really successful exhibition.
Also, other events will take place in the space over the course of the exhibition. This is an opportunity for increased exposure, networking and potentially sales.
Successful exhibitions often include live demonstrations, performances or other events, but you should know that projectors don’t work well in the Nishi Gallery (due to all the glorious natural light in here).

$850 per week, an exhibition is expected to be three weeks including bump in and out.
We take a 25% commission on sales
Opening hours are 11AM – 3PM Wednesday – Sunday.

Launches help to set the profile of your exhibition. It’s important that each launch maintains super high standards.

A standard exhibition hire is three weeks including bump in and bump out. Ideally, this means bump in on a Monday and Tuesday, finalise the hang on a Wednesday, open Thursday and launch either the Thursday night or on the Friday. Bump out on the Sunday afternoon after opening hours. If you need more time, we can arrange that; we can also organize some help if you need when it comes to bump out. The space needs to be clear and handed back in the same way you got it.
We can help with invigilation of the space during standard weekday hours, but its your job to organise invigilation of the space over the weekend.
You will be responsible for the transport, install, co-curation, promotion, sale, and removal of your show. We can go through all the procedures and such when you sign the contract for hiring out the Nishi Gallery.
